Budget Friendly Garden Makeover Ideas

Putting your own stamp on your garden doesn’t need to break the bank. We’ve rounded up some great ideas for affordable touches that you can add to your outdoor space to really make it pop.

Garden Makeover Ideas that won’t Break the Bank

There are a number of small things that can be done to help breathe new life into your outdoor space. These simple garden makeover tips don’t need to break the bank. That said, it is amazing what a small splash of paint, or set of outdoor lights can do to help make your garden feel fresh, new, and a brilliant space for you to relax in moving forward.

Paint your patio for a garden makeover

Don’t make do with drab grey concrete patio slabs. Why not have a go at painting them? Give them a jet wash first to blast off any dirt, then go in with hard-wearing floor or exterior paint. You could even stencil on a design over the top to give a stylish tile effect for a fraction of the price. Seal the whole lot with a couple of layers of a tough top coat to keep it looking great for years.

Light it up with solar lights

Have a go at a bit of a luminous garden makeover by making your own whimsical solar lights using a string of solar-powered outdoor lights and a mason jar. Simply stuff the lights into the jar and leave it on an outdoor table in bright sunlight to bring a little ambience to your evening in the garden.

In the frame with a framed planter

Add interest to a boring outdoor wall with a framed planter. You’ll need an old picture frame, some chicken wire, moss and some hardy succulents. Give the frames a couple of coats of heavy-duty varnish to help them withstand the elements, then use the chicken wire, moss and a little potting compost to create a planter which you can plant your succulents into.

Bird’s the word using bird feeders

Encourage wildlife into your garden by making your own bird feeders. Pop down to your local car boot sale or charity shop to find some old china cups and saucers to repurpose. Then, using the cups and saucers, some strong adhesive, and a little string or wire, create a bird feeder that you can fill with bird seed. The local wildlife will love it!

Maximise storage with a Keter box

Increase both your storage and your seating with a Keter box. Decorate it with beautiful cushions and soft, luxurious throws, and position it in a part of your garden that can become a peaceful sanctuary for you and your guests.

Get creative for a unique touch

Use old kids toys to make quirky and unique planters. Old dumper trucks and toy cars, toy animals and pull-along wagons all make for a fun and eclectic herb garden.

Add contrast

Do something a bit different to make a big impact in your outdoor space. Go bold with a dark fence and offset it with white stones or paving slabs for a clean and modern vibe.

Get Creative with your Garden Makeover

No matter what you do with your outdoor space, it is important to have fun and create a garden makeover that you can be proud of. Whether you want to get back to nature or have a completely contemporary area to call your own, it is important to make it your own. You can have the garden of your dreams and it doesn’t need to break the bank.
